At REMA TIP TOP, we are constantly focused on advancing the skills and experience of our team to meet the challenges of complex shutdowns. During a recent managers’ conference, the opportunity arose to provide additional splicing experience for our east coast belt splicers. Damon, Gladstone Branch Manager, and Anthony, Site Manager, took the lead in facilitating this opportunity by sending Hayden Johnson to support a 14-day shutdown for one of our key clients in late September and early October.

With the diligent support of our mobilisation team, Hayden was fully prepared for the project, ensuring all inductions, medicals, and travel arrangements were in place before he set off. Upon arrival, he partnered with experienced splicer Corey Gaden, forming an effective duo on-site.

Corey played a pivotal role in mentoring Hayden, sharing his expertise in both on-site and off-site tasks. Reflecting on Hayden’s performance, Corey remarked, “It’s been a pleasure having Hayden here. His willingness to listen and learn our methods has been impressive. I hope he can return soon and continue contributing with the positive attitude and drive he’s shown on this trip.”

The experience was equally rewarding for Hayden, who gained exposure to larger operations and advanced equipment. “It’s been amazing exposure to bigger operations and equipment. I’ve learned new techniques from people who do this daily. I look forward to coming back and hope it becomes a regular opportunity,” Hayden shared.

This successful collaboration was a testament to REMA TIP TOP’s commitment to professional development and safety. A special thanks go to Damon for making this opportunity possible and to Hayden for his hard work and dedication. We look forward to creating more opportunities like this for our east coast belt splicers in future shutdowns.
